Default Fishing in Sparta/Cookeville?

Man, it's been a while since I've been able to get out in the water with work/school/internship stuff going on but will actually be in Sparta for a training in a couple weeks and will be staying in Cookeville. Is anyone familiar with any creeks/streams or low rivers I could do some wade fishing in Around the Cookeville/Sparta area? Not looking for anything too far away since I won't actually get to head out until around 4 in the afternoon. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It's a bonus if anyone could point me in the direction at a chance for some smallies. Don't mind looking at bank fishing options but would prefer wading if possible.
