Caney Fork 8-25-12
We had some friends in from out of town, so we thought it would be fun to take a relaxing float down the Caney on Saturday. I put the kayak in the water about a half hour after they turned off the generator. No one in our group was fishing but me, but I had a blast tossing the ultra light and a trout magnet catching many stockers. I did have a few 14-16 inchers hit and spit the bait a few times. I also put on a small husky jerk in an area where I knew there were some dandy's hanging out. I had one hit, but never connected. And I had 3 follows from big rainbows. 2 were in the 21-23 inch range and the other I am guessing to be around 17-18. But they didn't want to commit. And since it was a recreational float, I wasn't allowed to hold everyone back and paddle back up and spend some time with those nice fish! HAHA. Oh well. I had fun with the little guys! Here are some shots I got of them!

I guess I don't know. I didn't notice anything different about them. And the big rainbows I had follow were normal colors. They were pretty silvery. Do all trout get brighter colors in the fall?

Nice pics... All my fish pics are taken with whatever phone I have at the time...
I'm glad to see the Caney trout seem to be healthy too.

You'll definitely notice a difference in them once they get their spawing tuxedo's on.
The Brown's really color up nice with the fall leaves oranges, reds, browns and yellows.
Brooks and Browns will color up mainly. Rainbow's typically are a very early spring spawner but I believe there are some that trying in the fall so some bows will color up too.

Really nice pics Mike. What kind of setup are you using to capture those photos?

Thanks Joel! I used a Nikon D90 and for these shots I used the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens.
