Default Old Hickory 3-31-2011

Old Hickory 3-31-2011
I went back to my old stomping grounds with long time friend Ken Jenkins today for my annual Old Hickory trip and the water was "cold". Evidently the Corp is letting a lot of water out out Cordell Hull plus the cold days-nights and rains that we have had here in middle Tennessee it has cooled the water temps considerably. But we still managed 7 total on a Terminator Spinner Bait www.terminatorlures.com and a Rapala DT6 www.rapala.com. Ken will be coming to Tim's to fish with me some time in May......Allot of fun with a good friend....More to come next week.....Rick McFerrin www.tennesseebassguides.com

How long have you been a rapala guy Rick?

I fish a lot of them and especially like the old down deep rattlin fat raps. I think they discontinued those for the DT series.

What were the ones you prefered at Luhr? I don't want you to ruffle any sponsors feathers but have always heard really great things about the speed traps and especially the hot lips. Never tried them but had them on my mind to try one of these days.

I like using the kwikfish and hot shot if they were rigged right. Those are killers on trout.

Travis: I still use the Speed Trap a lot-I caught servral on Guntersville on the Speed Trap several weeks ago.........Rapala owns....Luhr-Jensen-Storm-Terminator-Blue Fox-Trigger X-Williamson(salt water)-VMC and Sufix...I use some of each brand durning the year including Williamson....they have some colors in the X Raps that you can't find in this area.............My favorite Speed Trap cvolors are Root Beer Chart and Texas Hot Crystal Red........but I have multiple other colors in Speed traps that I use as well......Rick
