Default 9/9/11 old hick

Braved the rain yesterday, my dad was in town for my sons birthday party this weekend and wanted to do some fishing. So we hit old hick at daybreak, three top water a lot, caught some decent fish on buzz baits. None out or around grass at all. Idk if that’s just my luck or what, but couldn’t buy a bite around grass. We boated 12-15 bass with 6 keepers, had some nice healthy fish, dad lost a 5+ on a buzzbait. He was heartbroken. I had to hear about it all day. By the end of the day it was a12lber 🤦*♂️ hopefully the lake is about to turn a new leaf and get to fishing better. ROLL TIDE!!!

Way to go Skillet. Wish I would have seen your post before I went out this morning. I fished Station Camp and Town Creek coves; heavy overcast skies tossing a black buzzbait in and along grass. NOTHING. I tried squarebill and deeper cranks, again no bite. I guess I just don't know what the hell I'm doing! Any tho'ts?

Best thing you could do is do the opposite of Skillet. Took him out last spring to guaranteed honey holes and well.... it was bad lol

Zoom z craw and white 1/4oz buzz bait. That was all I caught them on. I threw a shakey head, squarebills, rat l traps, sexy dawg, and a Texas rigged worm. I should’ve put a white spinner bait on and tried that.

Tho't 3/8 might've been too big especially with the Keitech swing impact trailer, but that's all I had.

I don’t use a trailer. Straight up old skirt or no skirt with a swim bait on it. But prefer the skirt.

I’d hope so!!! At least when you follow him you catch fish. If Tnbronzeback follows him he can’t catch a cold!!!

Way to go Skillet. I'm starting to get a little OH itch. I think I'm gonna spend the next couple of weeks to see what I can grind out. The weather is supposed to be much nicer for the foreseeable future and I can actually fish in some daylight hours.

Bunch of boats in one area catching hybrids. Skillet and Bronzeback were there too but they hadn't caught any. TWRA was making the rounds. When they got checked, Twra found out they hadn't caught anything and was cracking on them about it. It was hillarious

The TWRA agent just couldn’t believe out of the 10-20 boats in the area, that WE were the only ones to not have a fish in the well. He proceeded to let us know how bad of fishermen we were and that maybe we should get a new hobby.

But we were trolling and holding our rods with our hands and only had one rod a piece, unlike all the other boats that were pulling boards and had multiple rods out. Either way, we managed to catch a few. And I caught my personal best striper. Wasn’t a great big one but around 10-12lbs!!!
