Default Down but not discouraged

Man this last month has been humbling. I've fished hard and put a lot of hours on the water, but I struggled. I had some really good nights at JPP before the weather got cool. But during the daytime it's been brutal. I can always catch a few dinks but finding keeper bites has been another story. I don't think I've caught more than 3 keepers in a day in over a month. From the lack of excitement on this site, I don't think I'm alone. I'm getting after it again today. I'm about to load up the boat and head to Center Hill. Hopefully today is the day to get some momentum going. Most of all I'm thankful to be able to spend so much time in the outdoors and on the water.

Hope the hill treats you better than us, we're fishing the King of The Bridge series this year and it only took 4 1/2 pounds to win it Saturday.... Everybody was scratching their heads, we had several missed topwater hookups early but only one small keeper all day...

I'm back to working two jobs and don't have much free time between that and the two boys. I am planning on fishing priest Saturday and maybe Wednesday or Thursday. Hopefully I've got something good to write about.

Today was a much better day for me. I started throwing a topwater shallow with no success. I then switched to a jerkbait and started fishing it around bait. I caught several that way but no keepers. I picked up a jig and threw it in a deep tree and caught a 2.5lber and that bite kinda keyed me in on a depth. I moved out to the main lake and fished deep and almost every fish I caught out there was a keeper. Had a cpl 3-3.5's, and lost a giant spot. I've never caught a 5lb spot but I would bet a lot of money this one was over 5. I actually lost a few fish today. The bite was pretty light a lot of times and it ended up being kinda of a reel into hookset because the fish would just be on without any warning of a bite. That caused me to lose several fish.

It's funny you say that about the bite being very light. I caught 8 Crappie Sunday morning and only felt 1 hit. The rest of them were just on there as I was slowly reeling.

I think my Saturday fishing chances were ruined last night unless I want to travel south.

I guess all I had to do was start complaining about not catching fish. We went out to JPP today and had the best numbers day all year. I found 2 spots that were absolutely loaded with bass. I stopped counting at 50 and I know my buddy caught at least 20. We had 4-5 limits between the 2 of us. I never caught one over 3lbs, but every fish was 14-18 inches. One spot was a stretch of about 30 yards where we caught them and the other spot you had to make a cast in about a 10 foot radius or you didn't get bit. We were catching them in about 5-12 fow. I caught them on a football jig, texas rigged grub, crankbait, and a senko. It was a great day to be on JPP.

Even Merv could answer your question. The water was wet and liquid.

The water was very high. The temps were around 60. Some water seemed very clean and some was stained. We caught most of out fish in the stained water.
