Talking Labor Day: The Boat Traffic Sucked, but Bass were Biting!

OMG, everybody that owns a boat was on the water. We tried ledge fishing but the waves were crashing over the deck every 2 minutes making it impossible. Went back into the creeks but nothing seemed to be on wood either. So we headed to some docks sitting in 7' of water. The bite was on! We found one dock with about a dozen fish on it. Skipping Zoom green pumpkin shaky heads & green pumpkin Senko wacky rigs in there, the wife pulled out a Nice one.

What happened next I would have never expected. She flipped the bass into the boat, when it landed on the deck, it kicked and got the hook stuck into my foot. I grabbled the needle nose pliers and pulled it out. Standing there bleeding, I told her to get me a bandaid out of the first aid kit and went back to fishing. What I didn't notice was she opened the rod locker behind me. You know what happens next... I step back into the wide open compartment and SPLASH! Luckily it was 77º water! When things calmed down, we took a Picture

Yessir! Thanks. I'm so glad I was able to launch myself out of the boat and not trap my leg in the hole and pull a Joe Theismann!

Yessir. All those colors work in these parts. When nothing else seems to get a bite, the shaky head gets it done

Nice fish.

I figured with all the rain and then cool weather things would be changing fast on the water.

Did your inflatable vest work when you ended up in the water. My vest stays on ever since I stepped off your boat into the lake

Hopefully, we can get out together soon,
Jim

Funny Thing is, I went in the water less than 20 yards from where you did in Wendy's cove. She caught the fish on the front side of the same exact dock where you went in, in November. I had my vest on until we got into the cove. I'm glad I wasn't wearing it. I would hate to have to re-pack it for a stupid fall in 2 feet of water We're going trolling tomorrow... We have a new rule in place about how and when we open rod lockers.
