Default Tim's Ford Red Algae bloom

Went to Tim's Ford hoping for some spring striper/hybrid action and was unpleasantly surprised to find the water coffee stained. I knew that they were behind on rain down there but did not forsee the algae bloom. This made is difficult to locate any stripers, we had one hit on a shad, but the fishing was too slow. We switched over to light spinning gear and targeted some bluegill. We managed to catch a handfull of gills and saw a couple of black bass caught. One of the locals I know told me that it has been real bad for a couple of weeks, but is starting to improve now.
