Default Just one rockfish

I had more than one encounter with the ol' rockfish but only enticed one into a solid hit. This one swiped at it twice before hooking up on the third try and ate the redfin head first which made it extremely difficult removing the redfin from its mouth. Luckily there wasn't any visible bleeding and After a quick measurement and weight the fish was slowly revived until it kicked itself pretty hard out of my hand holding its tail. Length was 39 inches and it just tipped the boga scales at 30 lbs. Not my biggest but a very nice fish for this summer when the fishing for big ones has been really tough.

That's a great looking fish. I have learned one is better than none. I love catching as many as I can but the older I get and the days I don't get any at all make that one even better. I think in a matter of a couple of weeks the fishing is going to bust wide open.

Regards

Thank you, the wood is cedar planking. It is probably 15 years old and just this summer I replaced a few cracked ones and sanded and resealed all of them. A lot of work but makes a great surface.

Great fish! Good read too!
This year has been my first with the big red fins and its alot of fun. I had 1 striper i had to make several casts to from several different directions before he would finally committ to it.
Its a rush when ya see the big boil and a silver flash but no hook up! Thats what brings ya back again for more!
