I know it as a popping cork rig. The idea in most cases, is to give the rod tip quick snaps to make a good popping noise, (and a bead or 2 to rattle) fish hear it, then, in most cases, 1'-2' below the cork is your jig that the fish focuses on then hits.leader length and # test is all dictated by species and conditions. ive heard rumor :-) they use this or something very similar for hybrids. Its a 2 prong method. Popping cork for your "topwater" approach then your bait of choice just below that. Fluke, jig, any number of light/weightless minnow mimickers.
