I would suggest an UL rod rated to throw a 1/64 ounce lure...those are hard to find....but an UL rated to throw 1/32 is easy to find and it will work fine. The action is a personal preference thing but I like a rod with a fast tip for trout. Here is a link to what I consider a great rod for the money. https://www.troutmagnet.com/store/in...01bdc51569ba02
BassPro also sells UL rods. For a reel I would get something in the Shimano 1000 series or another well known brand with the same series size....meaning designed for UL fishing usually rated for 2-6 pound test line. Trout Magnet also sells the Shimano reels on their website and they have a flat rate shipping of only $5.95. If you are coming to the fishing show at the Fairgrounds this weekend stop by the Trout Magnet booth and I...and others, will be happy to meet you and talk about fishing the Magnet for trout....and other specie. Plus you will run into a lot of forum members there. The rods and reels will be for sale at the show so you can see one before you purchase....plus all TM gear....line....lures. But whether you buy anything or not stop by the booth and we will answer any questions you may have.

I would echo everything that Alpha says. When I started fishing the TM I had no luck. When I switched to the 2lb, it was like a whole new world. If you are in Nashville this weekend Trout Magnet will have a big booth at the fishing show and all of the stuff that you need will be there and be on sale. I would suggest you coming by. You can also meet the owner of the company. Myself, Alpha, and TCINTN will be working it and we would love to meet you.
