Here is a bait you can use if you want to play with the big fish, it is 4oz head with a 9/0 forge hook with a #7 hammered willow blade. I wouldn't use anything under 30lb braid tied to the wire and this can be casted or trolled ..................woody

Now here is a serious jighead tacklemake makes and the hook that goes with it.
36 ounce jighead and a 12/0 hook.

When you need to go deep for big fish.

I'm gonna buy one for Michael Ernst and have him cast it for stripers at the steam plant!

I bet you could make a mean bucktail Woody.

If you do bucktails Woody, how long can you make them?

tacklemake 02-17-2015 07:48 AM

It's hard to find good long bucktail hair to work with and thats why I use feathers. Plus the price went way up..............woody P.S. You want to learn I'll teach you how to tie a great bucktail ?

I may take you up on that offer Woody. Maybe after the weather turns a bit. They are a deadly weapon for my quarry.

How do feathers move compared to bucktail?

For sure if you leave them on the bird.

Lure

That is cool.

I have a 7oz panter martin. It casts hard but cranks miserably.

I have caught fish on it. Well, they caught me.
