Normandy

Headed to Normandy today even though the water is way too high to properly fish the Trout Magnet. I wanted to get into some trout so I used the old technique that browntrout showed me and one they use on The White River a lot. I used a Trout Magnet Worm on a #4 long shank hook with an orange Berkley PowerBait Power Egg to keep it just off the bottom and a 1/3 ounce split shot 18 inches above the hook. Cast downstream and tried to keep the rig as close to center stream as possible. Caught 47 trout in two hours. Lot of fun with the Ul setup. They are beginning to decrease the flow a little there and I hope it gets down to under 300 CFS soon.

Congrats!

Excellent. Ethan and I couldn't land any down there 3 weeks ago.
Can't wait to be able to put the kayaks in. 300cfs would be nice. Billy |

Jerry Mckinnis used that type rig for trout back in 60's but instead of power bait used corn or red wiggler under the worm.

I fished with Don Jarvis and William Brown on Center Hill today.
4 hours, three guys, = no bites! Not NO FISH, NO BITES! |

Good work on all those nice trout, Alpha.
I wondered if you were fishing next to the dam or is the water too high for that? I don't think I could handle climbing down all that bric-a-brac (down a ways from the dam) to get to the water. Do you think fishing down near the bridge would be worth a shot? Are you using 2# line with that rig? I used that same setup with great success in the urban ponds in Vegas except that I used Berkley 3" floating trout worms as the bait with a size 6 or 8 Aberdeen. Same sinker setup with 4 or 6# line. Luck... Dennis |
