Personal Best Striper

I too was one if the many to fish the steam plant today (I was in the Old Town Predator kayak). I was out this morning before the sun came up with a temperature of 29, and man was it worth it. Caught a few 16/17 inches then as Merv was pulling in I hooked a good one (well good to me). Since I don't fish for striper all the time I'm not equipped with heavy duty gear. Armed with 8lbs test line (props to yo-zuri hybrid ultra soft) and my 7 ft med heavy rod I was able to win the battle. It was a blast...he kept stripping line and my equipment held up (which is a testament to buying good gear). Weighed 21lbs on my boga, but didn't get a chance measure him. Probably average striper for most anglers, by far my biggest fresh water fish.

Nice to met a few other fishingtn angers today and thank you Merv for taking the picture (and offering up some advice). Now my goal is to beat my new personal best.

Congrats on your catch. Twenty one pounds....on 8# test. That's my kind of fishing....LOL. That Yo-Zuri line is some great stuff.

Very nice fish, especially on that line. That had to be one hell of a fight!

I didn't...I know he was the length of my leg plus a few inches.

Next time ask me, I had a measuring board that's 50 inches long.

Let me Ask... Last time I was there Buoys everywhere at the mouth saying "Do Not Enter". I didn't venture up to the barrier. Is that discouraged?
