one more boat trailer question....i promise! lol
So i found a place online and the prices seem pretty good....im a little fuzzy on the ratings though so i figured i would ask fellow consumers instead of a salesman.
I have a 14ft flat bottom jon boat and a simple trailer.... Do i want 4-ply tires or 6-ply tires? What rating do i want? I see they are in an alphabetic style rating...looks like for my tires i need i have the option for C or D......maybe B, C, or D. I dont have the page pulled up as i type this. Ofcourse i use the express way so i would want a highway rated tire. My tires now are 4.80-12. I would assume i would want the 6-ply D rated tires, but i dont know how swaying and balance on the trailer are figured into that rating. Maybe at this rate in 2-3 more years i will have me some new rubber! Lol. |
I have a Tracker 15' Jon with 10hp outboard, TM & battery. The trailer is a Shorelander, I got all this from BPS 2 years ago. The tires are Carlisle Trail Star 4.80 x 12 , 5 lug / 785 lb max load. They read 2 ply sidewall and 2 ply tread. Good luck with them so far. But I need a spare, do you mind sharing web link?

Thanks for the help guys, i think im knowledgeable enough now to buy some tires and rims. |
I agree with Pokie, buy the bust you can afford.

I say move up to the most common tire size there is what ever that may be and that way if ya have a problem the availability of said size will be easy to procure. |
ha, ha. Yep buy the biggest you can afford in that aspect, and no regrets:)
