Found white bass in "the jumps" this early am. Caught fish every cast at times when the fish were on the surface. Kept twenty. Then caught 15 crappie.
Was two of us.

No picture of fish or beer can washed up on the ramp, although, there was an adult beverage involved in the filleting process.

Man, Isaac and I fished this afternoon and was surrounded by white bass just boiling around us all afternoon. He caught one on a spook and I caught one bass on a roadrunner. We could not get the fish that were in the jumps to eat anything we threw at them really. It was frustrating!

Awesome looking fish! I couldn't get them to hit anything tonight. What bait did they eat?

We used a popping cork with about 3 feet of leader behind it and a small slow sinking streamer following it. I will take picture of the rig tomorrow and post. Or, I also live in the 'Boro. I'll let you have one if you want.

Where did you find them jumping? I was in the cove where all the boaters party on weekends across from the east side of Hole-in-the-wall Island.

Near weakley lane bridge and by jones mill abandoned boat ramp.

We fished fate sander area, If you head out of fate sanders, take a left and start to go under the bridge to the river they were all over the right and left side of the river channel before the bridge. The other locations is a point that if you go right out of fate sanders and through the cut through there is a steep drop rocky point on the right and they were all over it. I would like to see that picture of what you threw at them.

When they are in the jumps like this, they are chasing newly hatched fry.

I found them like this last year and again two weeks ago. I scaled down to a 1 1/2 inch white twister tail and even had to add another long shanked hook to the hook on the twistertail to catch the many short strikers.

They are usually small whites and hybrids although last week we had a herd of small largemouth (12-14 inchers) blowing up around us as we were crappie fishing. We threw our bobbers and minnows at them and caught a couple.

Age is correct abut size of bait fish are gorging on newly hatched fry. Fish were there again this morning. Large white bass along with some hybrids mixed with them. Made for a good time. My neighbor wanted some fish so kept some for him. Wound up cleaning them for him. The bite cut off about 7. Fish were gone. Attachment 5864Attachment 5865

This is what works for me.

Oh, I thought when you said popper you were talking about a plug, not just a float set up. I might have to try that on the ultra light next time out and see if I can have some fun. I have plenty of Crappie magnets to throw at them.

Try again with photo right side up. Three to 4 feet between pop cork and slow sinking streamer.

Ok. Where do you buy those popping corks at? Aren't they made for saltwater?

Most places have them. Starkeys, and bass pro for sure have them.
