Found out what those big hooks were on the Humminbird
 

Been wondering for a while now what those Big hooks were on the Fish Finder, was hoping they were stripers, but not this time. The Wife pulled in Dinner :)

Awesome, which Humminbird do you have? I have the 561 dual beam sonar and was hoping to find someone else who has one. I need a little assistance understanding whether I'm marking large fish or not. I found a big ball of baitfish about 7 feet under the surface this weekend with larger marks under it. I kept dropping big spoons below jigging them hoping they were hybrids. Might have been crappie and therefore uninterested in that huge spoon haha.

Nice catfish. Were you around mid-lake?

I was in an area with a similar rock background that had big schools of bait and big hooks around them as well. We assumed they were stripers too but could have been those.

What did ya catch it on? Any of this making ya'll think of bringing a bag of cut bait with ya now?

Been seeing the big hooks on Jim's humminbird 798ci & a cheaper walmart humminbird, either one, the hooks are unmistakable. They are big and piled up. Been fishing every Cliff wall I can find from 109 bridge to Cairo hunting for Stripers. Went to the creek and netted some 4" suckers. They are slimy and hardy, stay alive for 10 hours or more :) We've noticed the hooks while fishing drop offs for bass, laying about 25-50'. Wishful thinking it was stripers. Still on the Hunt!

That cat wasn't even close to her biggest one last year.

what kind of fish grips are those? are they kinda like boga grips or something? i carry a pair of those rubber coated cotton gloves to lip them bigger cats. call me a sissy if ya want but i like to the skin on my thumbs in tact when a 15 Lb'er starts thrashing about and them little teeth go to work on your hand! LOL.

You'll have to ask Jim. He was in his boat beside us and tossed them over. Wish I had some like them though...
