Fished Happy Hollow area tonight. We caught 4 browns 18"-23". They were feeding in short spurts it seemed like. Fished for about 3 hours. Good to get back into the large fish. I love those fighters.

Nice fish!! I almost did a dam to happy float last night! Instead I went bow hunting. Didn't see a deer, should have gone fishing! Congrats on the nice browns! What was your bait of choice?

Tried a few different styles. Ended up catching them on Heddons RedFin top water spook and a black/yellow top water plug. Tried the I-40 rest stop at night but got asked to leave by security officer, didn't see sign posted oh well.

Mnfisher I was up at 215 this am to go bow hunting. Hunting partner sick as a dog.

Did you park in the "angler's parking" area? I don't ever remember a sign and people sleep in their cars all the time in the regular parking area.

You must have looked like a shyster after dark with all that fishing gear to do god knows what to god knows who. :D

I parked in the Angler area. I think the hours are posted on the sign stating the creel limits. He was kind enough and I was leaving anyways. I guess I could park in the regular parking lot and slip down there with my pocket fisherman rod. I have never tried and my wife keeps nagging me to use because she got it for me for my birthday!

My dad saw a guy take one of those Pocket Fisherman rods on a party boat going out for bluefish. Apparently, when the first fish finally hit, that little rod busted into half a dozen pieces.

Sorry to hear that. I actually was talking to my partner last night about your success with the Trout Magnet. He wanted me to ask you if you had used it at night on the Caney.

Oh yeah...used it a couple of years back with my son. It was a killer. We caught several specie with it at night there.....walleye....trout....crappie. I have a nephew who was at one time a full time Smallie guide on Dale Hollow and fished at night in the summer. I got to where I couldn't go out with him simply because my vision at night just goes away. Can't do the crappie thing at night either...and that can be the best time. But hey....I'm blessed I can fish as much as I want in the daytime. Glad you guys are catching them at night there. I know that is the best chance to get that big brown.

Thank you Alpha, this will be a new technique for me. And does anyone know what type boat and technique this guy uses in this picture?

My son took that pic. He and I were in our kayaks when he hooked that beast. I have seen him up there many times but that was my first time to see him fish the boils. I think his trolling motor is an I-pilot. He was staying just off the corner of the wing wall and casting to the boils and just down from the output. He uses live bait..he has a good bait tank in the boat and best I remember it is a Lowes. That Rainbow was taken on a shiner. What I have seen him do is catch some of the biggest Browns I have seen caught....down river. I am not sure but I think that is what he pursues most up there. While I have not seen him since that day I know at that time that was the largest Rainbow he had caught up there.

I have a video that I took of him landing a brown over 12 pounds down around Lancaster. He fishes live minnows or shiners, I am not sure which one. He has a large bait well in his boat. When he is drifting he uses 2 rods and lets the bait drift in front of him under floats. He is no doubt the best trout fisherman on the Caney in my opinion. I only see him fishing when they are generating.
