Caney Fork fishing

Stopped at the Caney Fork below the dam today on the way home from some meetings in Cookeville. Got on the water at 3 and they began releasing at 4. Caught 8 brook trout from 10 to 12 inches and lost a half dozen more. These was my first Tennessee brook trout so I was pretty happy with the catch.

All were caught on a trout magnet. (thanks to Alphahawk for all the posts showing how deadly it is).

The cool water of the Caney was very nice in this blasted heat!

On another note, I haven't been posting much as all my fishing has been wading in the creeks with my 3 year old. We catch lots of sunfish, crayfish, throw lots of rocks, eat lots of snacks and have a great time. Only using a trout magnet these days and it catches plenty. Saturday morning is our fishing time, and while I really wanted to make the gathering, there was no way he could deal with the heat and can only last fishing for an hour or two.

I am kind of glad the gathering will be in cooler weather as my son and I would very much like to meet everyone.

Stay cool,

Jim

We were talking about this at work today. At 105 degrees that cold water sounds soooo good.

Those sure are fun to catch.

My girls have became rock collectors in the creek. Every trip they have to bring home some rocks after playing/fishing.

Is that the place you were talking about?

Newbie,

I was talking about below Center Hill Dam.

Lots of good access points for trout fishing in the Caney Fork below Center Hill Dam. Lot of folks here know much more about it than I do as I rarely get out there to fish.
