Tims Ford trolling this afternoon!

Here is a photo of a 26 pound Striper that was caught this afternoon trolling a StriperMemories Urig at 25 feet deep.

It was dying. I tried to revive the fish but it would not swim away.

Yeah, hitting it was a hammer will do that.

I love Hybrid and striper fillets. Just a good solid chunk of meat.

I have downriggers but don't use them with Urigs.

OK, dumb question; but I gotta ask . . . without a downrigger; how do you know you're at 25'? Side imaging seeing your rig?

Good question! When I first started using Urigs, I used the Smart Troll system to determine depths. You simply attach one of the small probes in front of the Urig and let the line out recording distances and depths. The probes transmit data back to transducer and receiver in the boat. The data includes depth and water temperature. You simply let line out with the line counter reels and record the depths. This allows you to create dive curves. As long as you maintain the correct boat speed, the Urigs run at the correct depths. With four rods out, you can also experiment a little.
