Using a Trolling motor to go upstream

Is it possible to go up the Buffalo River or the Caney Fork river with a 46 lb. thrust trolling motor.

Caney on no generation yes. On the 250 sluice probably.

I had that size on a 14ft jon and it pushed 2 -185lb people with light gear upstream on low water. Once the generator came on we used my oar setup along with pre-planning my exit point to get back safely.

You didn't mention the Obey but that river is deep enough you can slip across river to the other bank on generation then push up to the Dam from the campground ramp. I have done that in the same jon boat plus trolling motor.

That is fun fishing below the Dam and casting over into the current seams. It's a mini version of the Caney's pond area.

Years ago I had a 16' Bass-tracker and my 46 would hold me but would not really go forward much with one Gen on in the Caney.
