Jpp 08-01-2015-night
Trying to beat the heat and avoid the pleasure boats, i decided to take a crack at some night time bassing. i hit a few humps and was not disapointed.
found a ton of fish all around the humps out deeper, but couldnt entice a strike at last light. i did manage to pop one fat white crappie on a blade just after dark, so i think i will return again with my crappie rigs! :D once the darkness took over i changed gears to a 10" worm. i think it was a black belly with some kind of purply-pearl back and they liked it....they like it alot! first fish i though i was snagged since i didnt "feel" a bite, but like they say, When in doubt, set the hook, so i did, and this bass headed to the surface like a rocket. ofcourse i didnt have a headlamp on, and i had 2 other rods dangling over the side of the boat just aching to tangle my line, luckily i got her to the boat no problem. Biggest fish of the night that i boated. my little Rapala digital scale registered 4.14. Maybe that was right, maybe it was off, but it was a long, heavy fish. i have it pulled back behind my head, hard to take a selfie in the dark! lol. That was the only fish i landed off that hump but had several other hits and i rolled another big fish. I moved to another hump and found the motherload! i boated a ton of bass, but nothing over 1.5 pounds. Ive always said i will take quantity over quality, which is still the truth, im not complaining. that was a riot. anywhere on that hump, just cast, let it hit bottom, bounce it once and Smack! But there i couldnt pinpoint and bigger fish. i circled the hump in deeper water and just couldnt find quality. So i focused back on the hump and wore em out! lol. All fish came on the 10" worms and black/blue craws. Tried a crankbait but only managed to snag 1 small bass with it. Great night over all! |

no giant, but still a quality fish! |
Good report and nice fish.
Be careful out on the lake at night. |
Sounds like a blast, I would take a ton of fish over a couple big ones.

Sounds like a great night

A few times i thought i was at an all night rave with all the black lights and red lights and green lights buzzing around in the darkness. And somebody has a ton of money with thier houseboat lit up brighter than Chevy Chases house in Christmas Vacation! lol.
It was a fun night to be on the water though. My new 12volt spotlight plug-in is kind of a pain....its almost too long to plug into the dash without hitting the steering wheel. So if anybody seen a spotlight flashing like a strobe, that would have been me! lol. Gonna have to try that spot for crappies at night coming up quick though! might turn out to be a gold mine for me! |
No moon on the 14th. I plan on being on the water for crappie that night.

Right across the channel from the entrance to Spring Creek is a big mud flat. Up against the shoreline there are some little bushes/trees in about 2 ft of water.
The bass can be seen busting shad in those bushes nearly all day. My friends and I caught about 15 bass there in about 45 minutes til we decided we really weren't after bass and went and caught some hybrids. Most of the fish we caught were about 14 inches but we had three that went 15-1/2 to 17inches. They were all released. |

I've been around those on G-Ville. First time I ever saw one was late in the evening and heard what sounded like a plane coming across the water. |

I actually thought it was a float plane at first also. Mike |
