JPP 7/21- Hybirds/whites but no crappie

This is probably no surprise for you guys that regularly fish for them, but this AM I saw the biggest feeding school I have ever seen of hybrids/whites. The water was torn up for about a quarter mile long by about 50 yds wide. Biggest was only about 15", but it was literally a fish every cast for about 20 minutes.

But I found exactly zero crappie for the 1st time this season? Any tips on what depth they are hanging out at?

I know what ya mean about the whites/hybrid...i didnt have a school that big, but a fish on almost every cast! thats alot of fun!
i also feel your pain on the crappie. My next outing im gonna search the 20ft depths around brush and see what i come up with. I cant seem to find any numbers this year either.

Sounds to me neither of you have much to complain about....LOL.

I can find crappie around bamboo I put out about two year ago about 20 feet deep. I seem to miss the jumps. I get out early am. Maybe need to try afternoon?

I had the opportunity to get a whole bunch of bamboo a month ago....i should have got it all to make crappie brush!
how long does bamboo last in the water?

agelesssone 07-23-2015 08:11 AM

Over six years that I can personally attest to.

Probably longer than that.

Three or five years if out it green. Next time call me I will share locations. Best put out winter. Will be ready spring summer. See crappie com. Structure
