The First Catch in my life

2 Attachment(s)
I used the tips that I've got from you guys. You make it clear to me and clear the confusing information that I read else where.
And finally, I caught the first fish in my life.
I attached a 4lb fluorocarbon to the end of my line, and used a nightcrawler as a bait.
Now, I feel more confident playing with the bait, splitshot, and bomber. I start understanding the main concept of using the basic things. And the most important, after the first fish, i knew that I am doing the right thing, I can catch a fish.

Thank you all guys for the great guide, and for being patient with my lower-than-beginner questions.

I think it is a green sunfish, can you confirm it please?

It was around 7 inches

Nice one... Now fill the stringer up with them

Congratulations. That's exactly how most of us started.

Try taking off the bobber and letting the nightcrawler sink to the bottom. You'll probably catch a catfish.

Thanks,
So, just through the bait with the splitshot and reeling? or leave it until the fish catch it?

I have a problem with the bottoms, all the time the hook and the bait get stuck between the rocks and I lose them. Any idea how to manage this?

Hey Newbie...I spent 21 years working in your country. I did assignments in Tabuk...Jubail...Jeddah...Dhahran....with frequent visits to Khamis...Hafir Al Batin.....Riyadh...Al Kharj. Caught literally tons of fish in the Red Sea...Persian Gulf...or I should say to a Saudi the Arabian Gulf...LOL. Love Hamour...Sobaity...Canad...Sikin. Too many fish to name but my most favorite was Nagil. I am sure there are not many on here who know what these fishes are but you should.

Regards

It's actually a bluegill sunfish, but you were close.

What he meant Newbie is to catch a mess of fish and fill the stringer up. A stringer is what you keep your catch on. Come join us on the 30th for the Gathering. I have room on my boat for you!

Glad to see you having success with the sport we all cherish. Next step, try to catch fish on an artificial lure, it is much more satisfying. It's much more of a challenge of course, but keep practicing. Try small rooster tails (white, chartruese, or firetiger in color) or beetle spins. They are easy to fish with and will catch plenty of fish similar to what you caught and occasionally will catch others. In the stretch of river you fished, rooster tails can and will catch white bass, largemouth bass, crappie, and even a smallmouth but in that part of the river that is not as common. In the winter months, rainbow trout are stocked in the Stones River and they can commonly be caught on rooster tails.
