Paul, it seems that over 81% of our newer legitimate, registered members are mostly lookers, (see below past 50 days) ... Also I have discovered that a number of our new and older members use our PM function as their personal messaging service and never have made a post. Yes you have a good question!

TK and TnDoorsman

This seems to be the new norm when it comes to forums. I recall a past forum I was a member in simply collapsed due to inactivity...everybody would look and occasionally gripe about inactivity and not contribute. That forum required you to even log-in to access the content...so there was no reason to not comment on even the most minute thread. The admin posted a sticky indicating they would purge the members for inactivity every few months and it seemed to help however, I believe they grew tired of DOS and other attacks and let it go. This is such a great forum and I'm happy to be here even though I don't post as much as the other guys. Soooo there ya have it, I know people are fishing as I watch them every day come up the discharge.... Oh and by the way catfish are going crazy chasing shad.

MdTnBankBustin 05-23-2017 08:31 AM

I am always here talking and asking questions about mid state bank fishing. Seems I missed stripes again this year but Im ready for some smallies!

TnCreekMaster 05-23-2017 08:39 AM

Let the purge begin!

Tennoutdrsman 05-23-2017 09:00 AM

I try to keep the Cat fishing updates as that's my most sought after fish..Crappie and Tilapia I've posted about as well and I'm USUALLY in the Tennessean Newspaper on Thursdays covering Old Hickory.. Maybe We are in a Era of "all take and no give" now...Sad but the evidence is there..So much for hellow fishermen being SOCIAL... Thank to Woody and Merv and all those that DO post on here!;)

Alphahawk 05-23-2017 09:49 AM

Many reasons for this. Some get older and we just don't post as much. Many will never post and just browse to get info......and nothing is wrong with that. I have not posted anywhere close to what I used to.....I have over 5000 posts. I am not fishing as much as I have in the past....although that could change if my energy level gets back up....LOL. Getting ready to do another white bass post but have to resize the pics. I understand the limit on pic size because it uses a lot of space on a server....but with the new cameras on phones the images are getting much larger.

Regards

Personally I just don't see a reason to keep posting "didn't catch anything again today"😄if I ever have a good day I'll be excited to post!

I'll give my take. When I first found this site, I would just lurk around. I was serious into bass fishing, but I was still very new to it. I didn't have the confidence to post anything for fear of looking like I was clueless. I am still a far less experienced angler than most of you here. But now I know that anyone reading my posts can go out and catch fish using the same techniques that I describe in my posts. I have that confidence now. When I'm not posting, it doesn't mean that I'm not fishing. It just means I'm not catching.

Same here. When I'm not posting its because I'm not fishing or not catching.

Im in the final stages of renovating my house to put on the market. I need to utilize every nice weekend i can to flip this thing while the market is hot! lol

I feel the main point in posting a thread is to spark conversation. Seems every time I post no one says a peep. I guess maybe I'm too informative in my reports since I always post conditions ,baits, colors , location ect... I should just say I caught fish then maybe people will ask " what were they biting on?" or " what was the water temperature?? " ..Or maybe its something else. I really don't know. This is not the only message board I use but It is definitely the one with the least activity. There is one I use, I don't post much there cause usually a bunch of people respond to a post and they all say exactly what I was thinking, so no point in posting. That definitely is not the problem here. Anyways, just my 2 cents.

Dakota 05-24-2017 08:00 AM

If you don't catch anything just give a quick report because I don't want to repeat what you just did. I'll try something or somewhere else. Having a day you don't catch many can still be meaningful to the forum.

Ive been here just as much as I always been, just have not fished anywhere what I wanted or anticipated I would, too much work and small kids would do that, entirely missed the walleye spawn at centerhill and the crappie spawn at JPP and normandy, my boat is out of commission with a bad trailer so it may be a while before I post a report of my own, been to jpp after work a few times for literally a couple of hours with nothing to really mention other than some big drum that really I don't think excites anybody

SalmonDaze 05-24-2017 11:30 AM

Never stopped Jimmy or Sambolie!

In all seriousness I am back to working two jobs and have a 1 month old and 3 year old so I have very little time to fish at the moment. I am going to make up for it next week I think. The wife took the kids to her parents so she could get some help and I only work two nights at my part time job next week. I hope to find some crappie on JPP and maybe go find some bass in my grass. I fished last night in the kayak event on JPP, Caught two fish that would have put me in the top 5 but did not submit the pictures correctly so they were not accepted, lesson learned. Write your number on your hand, don't use the little piece of paper, paper gets wet and falls apart :)

Speaking of... Old Hickory is out of Fish and the new hot trend is Percy Priest!!!!

Really, Also it is now against the law to run Banana boats on Old Hickory between the hours of 0400-2345

no way, Percy Priest is terrible, unless of course, your fishing at midnight and pulling your lures off the bank with the leaping tree frog presentation....

Only thing worse is the Caney above Great Falls - you can ignore what that guy said about Sparta -the fishing there is awful.. and the fish all have some kind of contagious diseases too - you can get incurable warts and hives just by handling them.

btw- Center Hill fish all have the same thing...and it gets worse the farther upstream you go...especially bad during the walleye spawn...which everyone knows occurs during middays in july...

In fact, the only SURE FIRE hotspot I know of is Cordell Hull. They are just slaying them there. Normandy is doing great too - they are absolutely killing the walleye there as they are in pre spawn mode getting ready for july.

LIAR!!!!!!!!!!

I actually fished last July 4th with Jimmy on Normandy for Walleye. We had 3 bites and one was a solid 25" Walleye that Jimmy lost at the boat as I was getting the net. Man, I'm glad that guy moved away :)

Bravo Sir!

Headhunter 05-25-2017 10:16 AM

Love the hybrid bashing concerning Priest. All I can say is I hate it for ya'. Priest is absloutely polluted with hybrids. I will say though the topwater bite I know is about to end and I will start catching bass schooled up on the bottom, of course the numbers of bass I catch fishing for them in deeper water are not true either.

commdd 05-25-2017 05:30 PM

headhunter, do you throw a texas rig or carolina rig for those deep bass?
