Asian Carp at Lake Barkley
I fished Lake Barkley for many years for both Crappie and Bass. Had not been back for at least 15 years. There is a cove on the north end that was one of my favorites in early to mid-June so I decided to take the Twin Troller X10 up there yesterday morning for some fun.
Fishing was very slow even with a Willow Fly hatch going on. Normally, you can catch big Bluegills along banks with Willow flies, not yesterday. I will post some screenshots from my Raymarine Element 9 HV showing what appears to be Asian Carp ... #Raymarine https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...effae7a33b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...69b9e7013a.jpg |
KY lake is overrun with them now.

They are in the Cumberland already.
Saw a dozen jumping below the dam last month. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk |
It's terrible news to hear. I've seen screen shots of side scan on KY lake and all you see is Asian carp. I ran into them a couple years back up here in Illinois fishing below clinton lake for hybrids. Every cast I would snag one, they were so thick it was like a false bottom. Great DI shots though.

I hooked one a month or so ago below old hickory dam. And seen what I believe were schools of the 2 separate times. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

They sure are. As mentioned previously, they're below the dam now. I've seen a few! |
This is another example that TWRA is so great at their job as a government agency and we, the fishermen, have to take the consequence for it.

In my opinion, they're doing a good job with the limited resources that they have available. |
Not sure the details but the last two recent things I heard trying to stop the Asian carp invasion.
1. Putting some kind of underwater speakers that emits a noise in the Dam lock area that irritate the Asian carp and will not lock thru and continue to spread. 2. Commercial fisherman netting and selling to dog food companies I can’t remember how much a pound? Has anyone else heard of these two tasks? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Maybe we are looking at this all wrong...
If they can be caught, then a simple knife thru the gills and throw them back. On a more commercial prospective, They can be turned into fertilizer, pet food, ect... There has to be a market for them. Finally they are edible.. supposed to taste like cod. Take a look-see at this video.. https://youtu.be/T1NVUV8yhmU https://youtu.be/CB-fmA07gZ8 |

I have heard of both. Commercial fisherman are getting paid well on ky lake. I’ve also heard of them using the speaker method to drive a large population of them into a small area and shock them or kill them some how. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I'll bet those that use the Speaker style Use the Current Country/ Bro Rap crap.
This New style of music would entice any Carp loving Bruh to commit to his crock wearing rapping man bun loving style and be able to corral any fish. Opps Sorry Just a real George Jones, Keith Whitley J.R. Cash Loving Nashvillian gone hay wire. |
