Tim's Ford 3-19-2010
I fished Tim's Ford today with Ron Kairdolf and we pretty much struggled all day. When we put the boat in this morning at 6:30am in Turkey Creek the water temperature was still 43 degrees and the air temp was 40 degrees. I wanted to focus as much as possible on Smallmouth only today and the 2 above was our largest. We fished from Turkey Creek all the way to Wagner Creek and numerous places in-between. We threw just about everything today except a Carolina rig and I wish we had stopped long enough to do that. The warmest water of course is up lake and there is still good color in much of that area. All of our fish was caught on 6lb test Sufix Pro Mix www.sufix.com (http://www.sufix.com/) and the #5 Shad Rap www.rapala.com (http://www.rapala.com/) that you see pictured above and as you can see it is very near the size of the shad the fish were feeding on. We had 6 total and all were released in good shape. I talked to friends on Normandy-Guntersville and Center Hill today it it sounded like it was slow just about every where-at least for them. I'll be back on Nick A Jack tomorrow and will update you tomorrow night. Come on constant warm weather!!!!! Rick McFerrin www.tennesseebassguides.com (http://www.tennesseebassguides.com/)

Nice job Rick, those temps sure are taking their time coming up and not getting in a hurry.

You like using those "bleeding" baits? I remember several years ago before that pattern really came out we used to dip most of our shad colored crank baits in red on covering the clear lips. We even used to dip some in chartruse as well which was my favorite to use.
