In the time I've spent fishing both fresh and salt water fisheries, I can not help but to appreciate the similarities in some of the fish. I find it very interesting that I catch myself at times "Nick Naming" fish making my self believe a fresh water fish is a certain name due to the salt water experience I had growing up in Florida.

For instance I was recently netting baits small sized "Skip Jack"/ Shad and I was calling them sardines. You may have herd of them as "Fresh Water Tarpon", are really also "Skip Jack"/ Shad. Even though "Tarpon" are euryhaline fish which means they can live in Fresh and Salt Water.
I was recently fishing in the Atlantic off the coast of Fort Lauderdale FL and I saw some Triple tail on the weed lines while fishing for Dolphin aka MahiMahi. I thought to myself, wow the little triple tail have a similar look to a Crappie. After comparing pictures online, it confirmed my thoughts.

Finally, I though it would be an interesting topic to share what fish look similar to you??

In my pictures
(From Left to right on the Top)
FRESHWATER-(1-SkipJack Shad) (2-Crappie) (3-Small SkipJack Shad)
(From Left to right on the Bottom)
SALTWATER-(1-Tarpon) (2-Triple Tail) (3-Sardine)

While I have never had the chance to fish for them, I have always thought triple tail looked like monster bluegill. :)

Just wish skipjack got as big as tarpon.

The Steam Plant in the winter time would be a mecca of the fishing world. :D

Absolutely if only they would grow.... That would be the place to be... Even for how small they are they still fight good, in fact very much like Tarpon.

I have been good. I went to destin last month and I have not tasted a better fish than the fresh saltwater fish. I am also about to get a boat and start fishing tournaments every weekend.

Wow sounds like you had a grand time!
That's great your getting a boat they can be very rewarding but at the same time, can be hard to keep up with but it's absolutely all worth it when its all said and done.
Send me a pic when you get it and keep me in tune with your tournament results.
Always a pleasure hearing from you CreekCrappie.
