Had a great 4 hours in the skinny water. Took the Tarpon 12 and fished a 1/4 mile section of a feeder stream 20 to 25 ft.wide This small stream is 8 to 10 degrees warmer than the river. Lots of cover and 12 ft deep in deepest hole. I had 16 largemouth all on Case Plastics Jacks worm with a Real Baits Tackle Wiggle Head All Pro Rods Medium Tennessee Handle 6 pound mono. long cast(water clear) and slow twitch. This pattern will work until spawn is over. The small streams feeding larger flows are full of fish when the water temps drop below 50 degrees!!!!!

Man all the 20-25 ft wide streams I find are knee deep at most and 8-10 inch smallies are the biggest I find in there haha. I'd like to find one with holes that deep. Pretty stream and pretty fish!! Looks like a blast. Springtime is just around the corner!

Very nice Mike. A "slow twitch", is that long pausing between the twitches, or the movement of the rod during the twitch is slow?

Jeremy, twitch to count 12345 then wait 5to 10 seconds and twitch again. When I feel structure I will pause longer. The twitch is just moving rod tip ever so slightly. Cast 40 ft cast may take two minutes to reel back in.

This is great info! I can't wait to try this out on some local creeks...I am new to using soft baits and trying to learn the ropes. Can you tell me how you had it rigged? texas, carolina ,etc? And if you recommend a certain size jig head?

thanks!

I used a wiggle head made by Real baits that was 3/16 and I threw a 1/4 also
Now as the water warms up I will migrate to a swim hook with the weight on the shaft of the hook.
and then go weightless(most of the time) with the Jacks worm and fluke style baits after spawn.
