I have not. It looks quite interesting. I certainly like the idea. I may have to cut some bamboo(vs. the $ they want) and give it a shot.

I have been fishing with a Tenkara for a few years now. It's a lot of fun in small local small creeks. I have not used it on the Caney yet though. They gave great customer service by the way.

So, I looked into this a little more and it piqued my interest. Not sure if I'd enjoy it so I couldn't bring myself to spend $100 or more on a rod. I went a different route. I have two coming from Hong Kong, $15 total and free shipping! They won't be here today but they are on their way! TroutFiend, what kind of flies are you using and what are you generally catching? BTW, I got one for Tenkara and one for Tenago(micro-fishing.)

There are a lot of folks who really go crazy for tenkara fishing. It is mostly suited for small waters and high mountain streams. I don't know how well suited it would be for a big tailwater like the Caney. I bet you could have a blast with a tenkara rod in the spring though, trout fishing on the stocked creeks on the Plateau like Charles and Mountain Creek or west of town on Tumbling Creek or Mill Creek. Those places would be perfect water for a tenkara rod within a couple hours of Nashville.

Tenkara has a small core of very devoted traditionalist anglers - kind of like the people who go crazy for bamboo flyrods.
