Looking to replace my elite 4 DSI with the Elite 7 HDI. I will put the Elite 4 DSI on the kayak. Anyone have one of these and can provide input?

I dont have one but my friend I fish has the non Down imaging one on his boat and they are awesome. The amount of detail and how easy it is to see fish and structure is great. It will be my next purchase for my boat.

Did you get one?

I did not. I looked at it a lot. I could not find enough difference in it and my 4dsi besides the size of the screen to spend the money.

I just bought an Elite 5X DSI from Cabelas for $249 on clearance. I recognize it is a discontinued model after this year but for that kind of money I have satisfied my want for a dedicated down imaging sonar to go along with my other larger Humminbirds. The new Lowrance is going in the console where an old X52 sits today.

I can't wait to get this unit and find out what all those odd features are that I have waypointed all these years. I probably have every sunken coke can in Old Hickory marked as a shell bed or bridge/culvert. Ah well what's $249 if I can have some fun and maybe improve my fishing experience?

You need to get a ram mount for it. My friend has one for his elite 7 and it's nice to be able to adjust the angle of unit.

I hear ya, I am still deciding where to mount it permanently. I would be nice to have it on the console will running, but more use up front while trolling.

Cost too much to have both. LOL

I would recommend installing it where you use it most. My buddies is up front and he has his humminbird 570 DI at the console. When we pull up to fish an area we just search it with the trolling motor if the area looks good. I just had a new HVAC unit installed on my house so there went my elite 7 and then some. If I can sell some of my items I have laying around I am going to get one. I feel handicapped when fishing out of my boat in deeper water because of the electronics I have compared to his elite 7.

I will probably leave it forward, and look for something smaller to replace the cheap one that comes with the trackers on the console.

I feel your pain on the AC units, just replace TWO this summer.

Yes, we also do plumbing and drain cleaning. 7 yrs . Is getting some age on it. In middle TN our water quality varies greatly so you would be amazed by what the inside of the tank looks like as far as build/up if it hasn't been serviced regularly.

My water heater started leaking from the high pressure pop off. I replaced valve and a week later leak again. Come to find out my water pressure reducing valve gave out and pressure was 85 pounds. I replaced it and so far so good.
