Today jAN 10-2012 I fished Nick A Jack with Jerry Steakly and we had another fantastic day throwing the Tennessee Rig with a variety of Swim Baits including a Storm Wild Eye Shad www.stormlures.com (http://www.stormlures.com/) Sufix 832 Braid worked extremely well-it is very smooth and is ultra sensitive www.sufix.com (http://www.sufix.com/) . We lost the first 3 big Largemouth we had on right at daylight 2 on the rig and one on a Luhr-Jensen Krocodile Spoon www.luhrjensen.com (http://www.luhrjensen.com/) but was able to catch 3 more throughout the day. In-between we caught at least 100 White Bass that all looked like the ones you see above. Rick McFerrin www.tennesseebassguides.com (http://www.tennesseebassguides.com/)

Nice job Rick. That rig does seem pretty deadly regardless how someone may feel about using it.

By the way congrats slim.. :D

No one should discount the unlimited potential of how this rig can be used-or the variety of lures that can be used on them....based on individual states laws.....Like I said I wouldnt want to throw it everyday-but the results that they produce is strong......still a light guy at heart...Rick

Do you have to use a heavy action rod for this?

Were you fishing in Kentucky? I thought this rig was illegal in Tennessee. I believe it falls under the umbrella rig. I would like to give it a try if legal.

Hogdawg: A 3 rig is legal in Tennessee any size single hook....can't use 5...just 3 ...Rick

Tennesseejugger: I use a 7 foot heavy casting or spinning.....Theres a lot of lead in this thing.......Rick

Rick's right. I spoke with a TWRA officer about it yesterday. He also mentioned that they (TWRA) would be concentrating more on fisherman this year due to a lack of duck hunters (no ducks=no duck hunters), so make sure you're legal when you're on the water.

Maybe this cold snap and winter storm up north and across the MS flyway will push some of those birds down here....

Are there any 3 rig products out there being sold or do you simply take a 5 rig and snip off 2 of the wires?

Niiiiicce. I may just have to do that myself instead of spending 20 bucks on a rig. You teach classes? :D
