Hi guys. Lately I've been on a major trout spree and need some new spots. Of course I've been down from the dam but I like stream fishing a whole lot more. I've heard of "Indian creek" anyone ever done any good there? Any other trout streams near me? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You really need to check out the South Holston if you haven't done so already. It's not too far from you. Laurel Fork creek is close too, I believe. I haven't fished it but it has a good reputation.

Like bd suggested, I would try to get to the SoHo or even maybe Clinch. During winter I'd try to lean towards tailwaters if I could.

I hear the winter hatches on the SoHo are pretty amazing. If you catch a cold day with spitting snow then head there.

Thank you all for suggestions. Can someone tell me where SoHo is? I researched it but couldn't find anything.

It's south of Bristol. Not too far from where you are at. It runs from South Holston Dam to the headwaters of Boone reservoir.

Here is a map:

Sorry for the slang. South Holston River is just SE of Bristol or NE of Bluff City TN.

bd, are there trout in the tailrace below Boone on the South Holston?

There are trout in Boone if I am not mistaken so the water below should be cold enough.

Yeah, that's where Ronnie Rowland says he caught the state record rainbow trout. I've never fished it. Apparently it gets some lake run fish from Ft. Patrick Henry lake in the winter and early spring, but from my understanding it's more conducive to trolling out of a boat rather than wade fishing.

I don't think Boone is stocked with trout, but with both the South Holston and Watauga feeding into it, it ought to have some as long as the temps don't get too warm.
