I took lil girl out to the greenway this afternoon and ended up catching several log perch about 3-4 inches long. I kept a dozen or so and may go back before Saturday for more.

What is the best way to fish these and what species really eats them?

I assume cats will love those little buggers but will bass?

Would that also be called a stumpknocker? Little stubby, wide fish-reminds you of a redeye? If so, bass will love them! My dad used to catch them, put them under a float and let it sit while he fished for bream with the other pole. Got a lot of big bass that way.

Log perch are TREMENDOUS smallie bait. Fish 'em tight to bottom in areas with current (like below oh dam). Pay special attention to rip-rap areas and eddies.

Sorry, its a Green Sunfish. Growing up we always called them that because they seemed to hang around wood in all the creeks, rivers and lakes we fished.

I may give them a try this weekend. My uncle is going to need a break from all the stress with his lil grandson and having to go back to the mid-east Sunday. Will go get a few more and have a good supply then take them up to some bluffs along the lake where we catch smallies Saturday night.

Thanks guys..

Greenies are great for cats, not so much for smallies lol. Sorry about the mix up.
