Folks I am a member of the (Cocktail Class Wooden Boat Racing Association), commonly known as the CCWBRA www.ccwbra.com .. Our 8 foot boats are called CCR's (Cocktail Class Racers). These small craft are family friendly with classes for 12 to 16 year old's as well as adult women and men with different weight classes. Our two oldest members are 84.. The boats come in kits or plans to build your on ( I recommend Kits) https://www.clcboats.com/shop/boats/powerboats/cocktail-class-racer.html . Great site and video's..This is a project that you and your Son or Daughter can partake in ...

The types of outboards that are used are in different classes ... All 6 HP, 2 stroke.. OMC/Bombardier (Evinrude/Johnson), 6 HP 4 stroke Tohatsu's , and 8 HP any Brand, 2 or 4 stroke. ... All motors stock. Some reach top speeds of 30 MPH plus. Now this does not seem fast compared to our bass boats. But when your in a 100 pound boat in competition with other boats on a closed coarse it can be an adrenaline rush !!

The association is based out of Maryland , with sanctioned races in PA, Va, MD, NJ, Fla and TN. Now there are other races in 33 states and 7 countries.

Our region is the Appalachian Region – "Moonshiner" Most of the South ... We just had a Demo of CCR's at Pickwick Landing State Park in Counce, TN. in an effort to recruit New members and boat builders , Now pre owned rigs are available for sale, see classifieds. https://ccwbra.com/awpcp/

. We postponed a Regatta Race this year known as the Tennessee Cup. But looking forward to scheduling it next year ... So if interested click on these sites https://ccwbra.com/forums/topic/the-tennessee-demo-was-a-success/ .... Great write up and pic's ...

and any questions you have I can be reached at oldoutboardbarn@aol.com ... . TK Walker:)
