Hi Guys, Remember when we were doing battle with the Corp Of Eng's about the barriers they were going to place in front of the Dams ,,, A good friend of mine took this on as a project to contact all of Washington about this situation ... And we won !! ... His name was Rick Duty...

Just so happens Rick moved here from Ralph Williams country ... Now here is the rest of the story as Paul Harvey use to say ... <'TK><:)

Memories... The guy hawking cars for Ralph Williams, (“That bald-headed son-of-a-bitch”) inadvertently triggered a monster advertising campaign. At the time, he was the on-screen pitchman for Maywood-Bell Ford, in the L.A. suburb of Bellflower. He would open the ads with a German Shepard laying on the hood of a new Ford, and introduce himself and, “...my dog Storm”.

A competing dealer, Cal Worthington, picked up on that, and made a complete mockery of it. He would open his ads with a narrator shouting, “Here’s Cal Worthington and his dog Spot!” Of course, there was never really a dog. I think the first one was a tame tiger laying on a car hood. The next commercial he may have been riding a hippo, the next one walking with a chimp – but always with the same introductory announcement. You never knew what his mock response was going to be to the ridiculousness of the dog Storm, being in a car commercial. Worthington used the ads to not only build the worlds largest auto dealer empire, ($316 million in 1988), but he opened an advertising company, (of which he was the sole client) Spot Advertising – where (according to the Sacramento newspaper) he spent $15 million on his own commercials... He cranked off in 2013, at his ranch in the same northern California burg my brother currently lives in. Old Cal was in his 90s.
