Did a 6 mile canoe float down the Harpeth today. Weather was great and the water level was awesome. Hooked into 15 mostly smallies a few largemouth. Nothing real big but it was still a lot of fun. Had great luck on white flukes weightless and flipping jigs with craw trailers. Tried out a little pumpkin watermelon red ned jig and caught 3. It was a pretty great day on the river!

Sounds like a good day. Love catching smallmouths in the creeks!

Nice! I would like to try this sometime. Where do you put in at? Can you paddle back up when you are done or do you need a pick up?

I always paddle up & float down. Harlinsdale Farm & Pinkerton are easy spots

Thank you Drew L!
I've really enjoyed the Coosa HD & also the buying experience & service after the sale from Ryan @ Caney Fork Outdoors by McGavock High School has been great.

We put in at Moran rd bridge and took out at highway 100. About 6 miles. It would be pretty hard to paddle back up stream I think

I usually don't go a huge distance upstream, but just for time reference, last year I put in @ Harlinsdale & paddled upstream to Pinkerton & it took about an hour I think. I had to portage 6-8 times.

I started wearing waders/boots & connecting a shock cord (kayak to waders) & portaging became a lot easier on Harpeth for me. Especially when fly fishing...I connect & drag it behind me. Have less issues w/ line / trees / anchoring etc

Looks like a lot of fun! I'll get out there sometime. I can never figure out how to do these floats as I trailer my kayak.

Float trips take 2 cars. In your case, you take the car at the bottom of the float back to your car and swap out before loading up. Then fetch the first vehicle.

I used to live in the White House with the upstairs patio outside on corner of Moran and boxwood. I know that area like the back of my hand. Check for arrowheads on the shoals. :)
