B; Supposed to have better processor, Structure Scan and other third generation improvements.

This is what I plan on installing on my rig in time....although there has been some discourse with these units over various problems that have me on pause until I hear the kinks have been worked out.

Certainly spend the few extra bucks (relative) to get the structure scan. If its reliable and user friendly, thats gonna be a sweet addition!

We all have a budget. I am loyal to no brand of the imaging sonars...they are all good. But I am loyal to one thing.....buying the biggest screen size you can afford...then dig a little deeper and make it hurt even more. You will thank yourself as soon as you buy the 9 inch. You will find a lot of folks arguing about HB...Lowrance....Garmin...Raymarine....but no one will argue about getting a bigger screen. I am getting a new one and I am going to hurt when I write the check...but it will be easy to see what I am looking for. You obviously want the Lowrance so here is my vote....yes it is 800 bucks higher. Having said all of that if you don't go for that unit don't go with the one that is already obsolete.

That is what I have heard Justin down at BassPro seems like a well rounded specialist in the area of electronics and that's what he was saying. Thanks for your feedback!

I have the HDS-9 Gen 3 with Structure Scan. I don't have the 3D module. I love it. I also bought mine on eBay and paid $1823. So it pays big time to shop around for the best price.

I have had mine for a year now and have had zero problems. Make sure to keep the software up to date and make sure you don't have any power issues happening to your power source for the unit.

From what I have seen most problems people have had is because the software wasn't up to date or they had a power source issue.

I also have a HDS-7 Gen 2 ( I bought used on eBay for $600) on the bow of my boat with the HDI transducer so that I have downscan on my trolling motor transducer. It would freeze up and loose depth readings and the screen would do all kinds of weird stuff. It ended up being a power problem. Fix the power source problem and have never had another issue.

I have the two networked together using the network cable so that I can share the map card and all of my waypoints between units. I can also share the transducers and structure scan.

Wow man thank you so much for your feedback that was extremely informative to know that makes me feel a bit more comfortable about working towards this investment that being said I'm looking to do the same thing and Link both my units together and in addition link them to my MotorGuide Xi5 Saltwater series which I recently purchased as well and I am completely satisfied with it thanks again for your reply very helpful!

Bigger is better when it comes to the screen size. And if the 3D scanning is something that you absolutely want, and feel it's a must, then pony up the few extra hundo's and put it with the 9"

I think I just may do just that, I agree I'm in need of a LARGE screen!

Yeah there is a pretty incredible difference between the 7 and the next size up, I'm still undecided at this point I'm thinking about waiting a little bit longer and just getting the.
