Well I gotta say the trout magnet works and it made a believer out of my trout fishing buddy Paul too.. He was totally shocked when I pulled up the first fish, a little brook trout, with a white magnet under a cork..We had an all around great day on the caney.. We canoed from the dam to the rest stop and caught fish like crazy all day long..The brook trout I caught was my first ever, another species scratched from my bucket list.. The cons of the trip, it was really uncomfortable sitting in that dang canoe all day.. Think I much rather wade..Next, down at the dam they had a generator on from 6am-7am and we couldn't buy a bite down there..Once they turned off the generator and floated down to where the campground is, they started biting... Next con, even though the trout magnet worked, I was still outfished by Paul who was throwing a small pearl daredevil spoon..The fish were totally hammering his spoon all day..The technique of fishing the magnet under a cork seemed to work the best, though it was a constant battle of adjusting the depth as we floated the river. I also had some difficulty setting the hook..Over all though we had a great day fishing, and me and Paul both give the trout magnet a thumbs up..

Glad you had success with them. That's basically all I throw anymore unless they're generating. I went this morning and they were biting pretty well. Good average size too.

I'm pretty jealous on the Brook. It's been two years since I've caught one out of the Caney and I'm not sure why. I've caught hundreds of trout out of there and not one stinking Brook.

Congrats on your day.

Congrats!

Next time try the twitching technique or touch base with Ed (tcintn). He is about as good as it gets with a float technique.

I do catch a lot under a float and it always make me feel like a kid seeing it dive but have caught way more with out.

Thanks everybody for pointing me in the right direction and love the videos..We actually saw the trout magnet guys out there at the dam in there boat...Anyways I feel like the cork technique as I said worked well but I will surely try the twitch technique next chance I get.. I'm somewhat familiar with fishing the cork technique as thats the way I used to catch crappie back home in Louisiana..Only difference was I used a tube jig. Thanks again guys and happy fishing..

You can run your line through the peg on the float and add a stopper making it a slip float as well. I do this on Old Hickory around the bluffs and catch a little bit of everything with the same trout magnet. You want to add a small shot to aid in the falling of the bait in this setup. Its a great cold water technique but works well any time.
