A friend and I caught over 150 shellcracker today. Most between 11-12 inches. The lure of choice was a Bison colored Trout Magnet on a 1/16 ounce jig head with a #8 hook. These fish were in about 5 feet of water.....if you didn't use a very slow retrieve and keep it on the bottom, or close to it, they would not move up far to hit it. I used a Tict Ice Cube Rockin' Drift 6' 9" D Tor UL rod strung with 2# test Nanofil line with an 2# test Phantom fluro leader. The reel was a Daiwa Luvias 2004CH. The other rod I used was a Major Craft FineTail Banshee Area Trout rod 6' 5" UL. The reel was a Daiwa Certate 2004CH strung with 2# test SOS mono. It was a great day of drag pulling fun! Headed out to Dale Hollow on Friday...life is very good!

Can you tell me what lake you were on as I was gonna ask the question about which lake to chase shellcrackers on this weekend.

Haven't been to Center Hill for several weeks. Been busy burning up the road to Dale Hollow....with great success up there. Went by Laurel Hill today...water is low but it is OK. The shellcracker bite is on there.
