Looking for information on Locking through a dam. Any tips, articles, videos out there anyone care to share experiences?

I've done it hundreds of times. It's not a big deal, just pay attention; don't allow passengers to fool around; have fun.

A couple suggestions:

Use old fenders: slime and muck on the walls will stain stuff

Use old lines: same thing . . . make sure your lines are ready to go when you enter the lock.

You're not "tying up." You're simply using your lines to retain position close to the wall.

You'll prefer to have 3 people with you: you pilot the boat; one person on the bow line; one on the stern.

Great info there! i scratched my aluminum boat rail all up on that rough concrete wall. the guy upstairs always told me where to tie up to due to the size of my small boat. very smooth, no issues, safe.
