I need to try something like that around some of the small streams I like to wade. I will say I don't think I have ever seen a hellgrammite in the waters around here. Are they common?? I know my grandfather talks about fishing with them for smallmouth.

They are in streams but are not as common as once were. They are from my understanding a bug that requires a little better water quality than most.

You also wont typically find them in the same areas as craws. Look in the riffles especially if there is leaves or sticks type mucky matter in the swifter water or flat rocks.

And whatever u do if you catch some dont store them with craws or all you will have for bait is just craws.

If you catch any just stuff then down your underwear. They will just cling but will not bite.:)

LOL...

I hear the adults are flying in east TN now. Maybe send him over with a minnow net to catch a few to bring back. :)

At least I will be getting some action ;) Minnow net is to small. I will take my neighbors kids butterfly net.
